TARGETED WAGE
SUBSIDY
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
An 8-27 week program that provides funding to cover part of an Employee wage. The Program creates opportunities to enhance skills on the job and improve long-term employment with a local employer.
This opportunity may lead to continued employment with the sponsor. TWS funds are not meant to create a funding dependency. Core staff or normal program activities can only be supported once.
OBJECTIVES · To provide a wage subsidy, employment related costs and related training dollars for an unemployed eligible participant
· Sponsors will offer likely hood of long-term employment or for the participant to obtain sustainable employment
SUMMER STUDENT
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
An 8-16 week wage subsidy program that provides funding to hire high school or post secondary student for summer jobs.
The Program provides students with work experience, builds transferrable skills career awareness and preparation for future entry into the labour market
**OBJECTIVES**
- This program provides work experience and developmental learning for in-school youth through wage subsidies for employers.
- Employers should not hire the same students for consecutive years and must ensure fair and equal opportunities for all candidates.
- Students cannot be supervised by their immediate family members.
DIRECT PURCHASE
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
Provides funding to purchase seats in identified training courses and/or workshops from private and public training agencies for a group or individual, Training must meet Labour Market Demand
OBJECTIVE
To provide funding for eligible participants attending occupational or vocational training programs at public or registered private institutions.
